Bank of America gets a new chairman: my good friend
News just broke that Bank of America shareholders have stripped, Kenneth D. Lewis, of his role as chairman of the company but will allow him to remain president and chief executive. Today was Bank of America’s annual shareholders meeting in Charlotte.
Based on this news, it seems as if Bank of America is making much needed changes to improve its leadership. While I sometimes have harsh things to say about Bank of America, I have only good things to say today, especially since the new chairman, Walter E. Massey, is a good friend of mine.
Walter E. Massey, a well-respected leader and doctor, was the president of Morehouse College when I attended school there from 1997 to 2001. We have dined together on several occasions and he is a jazz lover like me. Massey has been on the board of Bank of America for several years, and I believe he will do a fine job in his new role as chairman. If not, I will surely write about him—of course in the nicest way possible without compromising my journalistic impartiality.

Greetings! I’m Kevin D. Johnson, a business owner who has recently assumed the role of consumer advocate and internet activist. Atlanta, Georgia is my home.
Upon returning from my wonderful honeymoon in Jamaica in October 2008, I received what I thought was an ordinary American Express bill, but to my surprise it was a disappointing letter informing me that my credit line was reduced by about 65% for a highly suspicious and discriminatory reason. I created this web site to document and share my challenging journey to change what is wrong, unfair, and unjust in the credit card industry. The ultimate goal of this web site is to inform consumers of ways to stand up for themselves against treacherous business practices and to educate consumers about how to improve their credit. Finally, I hope to encourage a more open dialogue with credit card companies about their policies–good and bad.
I am proud to say that this blog's unyielding demand for change led to an important

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting. Let's hope he can and will make changes and help change the corporate culture of this country. I don't expect anyone to do a job for free, but believe the current pay and bonuses are outrageous.

That really is some good news. It would be even nicer if he would go in and undo some of the horrible things BoA has done such as increased-beyond-belief interest rates, slashed credit lines, etc.
