Why my sudden hiatus? VoteKevinJohnson.com
A few of you have sent me e-mails, asking what I have been doing. Thanks for your concern. Given that I have not posted an entry during the last two weeks, I thought I would let you all know what has been taking up so much of my time.
In a nutshell, I have been preparing to run for office. In fact, I declared my candidacy today for Georgia State Representative House District 58, which encompasses most of the communities in East Atlanta. This effort takes up my time entirely. It requires a lot more of my time than I thought, especially since the election is a special election likely to be held in November. (The incumbent resigned because of a conflict of interest with her new job. The seat is open, and it is a great opportunity.)
In short, I haven’t forgotten about you all, and most certainly, I haven’t given up the fight for better credit card practices. Instead, I have just taken it to a higher level. Slowly but surely, I will be getting back to my schedule of posting at least five days a week to let you know what is going on in the unpredictable world of credit.
Finally, I encourage you all to visit my campaign website at VoteKevinJohnson.com, and if you feel compelled to help, please make a contribution. Thanks.
Greetings! I’m Kevin D. Johnson, a business owner who has recently assumed the role of consumer advocate and internet activist. Atlanta, Georgia is my home.
Upon returning from my wonderful honeymoon in Jamaica in October 2008, I received what I thought was an ordinary American Express bill, but to my surprise it was a disappointing letter informing me that my credit line was reduced by about 65% for a highly suspicious and discriminatory reason. Considering my excellent credit score and pristine payment history, it just didn’t make sense. However, what does make sense are the unfair and insidious policies that I have uncovered when asking why. It is time to change them.
I created this web site to document and share my challenging journey to change what is wrong, unfair, and unjust in the credit card industry. The ultimate goal of this web site is to inform consumers of ways to stand up for themselves against treacherous business practices and to educate consumers about how to improve their credit. Finally, I hope to encourage a more open dialogue with credit card companies about their policies–good and bad.
I am proud to say that this blog's unyielding demand for change led to an important
Congrats on possibly a new governmental calling - be elaborated, as sentiment can perhaps shake a somebody to go trailing the evil road. Having said that experience is a contend irrespective of what you do. A cause grows only through challenges.

In 2006 and early 2007 the situation was the exact opposite.

Thanks, Marcus. I heard the California bar exam is a beast! I had to console some friends who didn't pass the Georgia bar exam a couple weeks ago or so. Regardless, I know you'll do well. We look forward to you coming back. Kudos to CreditMattersBlog.com.
